My kids (7 & 8yrs old) are Lego fanatics, and this is their favorite set so far. I bought this along with a Lego Community Workers set and they have spent hours playing with it! They have set up a skate and bike shop - the friendly mechanic there sells bikes, helmets, and skateboards, fixes wheels and also services the bus. There is a pizza shop where friends meet and Moms and Dads have date nights (LOL), the place is always packed. The bus stop is always busy with people waiting. The bus is amazing and can hold many people.

I love the educational value of this set. It is hard to find real-world role playing toys for boys so they can act out real life situations. I highly recommend getting the City Corner and the Community Worker minifigure set together. Now we are deciding what other places we will build - like a school, a grocery store, a hospital. My son recently chose this toy. He had an easy time putting it together, though the treads were difficult. One thing I note is this is a very light model, I would almost say flimsy. It has very few Lego/Technic pieces, with a huge percent of of the 216 piece count is the individual pieces of tread. There really wasn't that much to build. I purchased this Lego Assault Weapon for my 11 year old grandson. The day after he received it, he spread the parts on the floor, looked at the instructions and proceeded to put it all together. I liked the quality of the toy after its assembly. Shane received it on the 8th and he continues to enjoy having it and playing with it. This is without a doubt the worst design I have experienced from Lego. It's so poor I'm embarrassed for them. I was a faithful Lego lover in the 80's when I was a child, and am now enjoying them again with my son. We have nearly every Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones set and most of them are decently thought out constructions, this one however, is not (the Temple of Doom is a poor design too, stay away from that set also).

Many of the large pieces and even sections are held together by just one or two Lego dots, if you gently lift and rotate it to an upside down position, or attempt to carefully transport it, there is little chance it will hold together. You may have been lucky to have gotten pieces that fit slightly more tightly than our set, when held upside down ours definitely slips apart. My son was not able to put this set together, and I enjoyed putting it together about as much as I have enjoyed constructing tedious models.

This set is not designed to the standard that I expect Lego to maintain. There is a reason why Lego is more expensive than Mega Blocks or any other Lego impostor, and it's because they have maintained a high standard over the years. This set is not at that standard. The only good thing about this set is that it does come with a lot of figures. The catapult is pretty good also.

The Lego Town Plan is the coolest Lego set I've seen in years. This set is what helped me decide to collect Lego's again, after being a huge Lego Maniac back in the 1980's. I can't help but think about how much fun I would have had with this set as a kid.

What you get is well worth the money spent. We're not talking huge buildings here, but you really can't go wrong, and would be a great start (or addition) to any Lego Town. The retro design is so cool, it looks like they come right out of the 50's!

I'd say out of the three buildings, the gas station is the one with the most play value. The detachable gas pump island allows you to place the pumps anywhere, although it would have been cool to have them be more stationary so they aren't in the middle of the road...etc. The garage is cool, comes with a sliding garage door and a bunch of tools, as well as the car wash (only smaller cars will fit in the garage and car wash). The snack shop comes with food in a display case and cash register.

The movie theater also has incredible detail, from the "Cinema" sign and marquee out front, to the soda and popcorn stand on the inside. Plenty of room and comfy seats for at least 5-6 minifigs to catch the western playing on the big screen. I maybe would have designed the ticket booth out front a bit different, but that's neither here nor there.

The town hall has a cool outer facade, and the fountain is cool as well. I purchased a seperate green Lego base plate and put the town hall on one end of the plate, with the fountain in the middle, like a park. The interior of the town hall leaves something to be desired, but I think the outer facade is the best feature. The flowers do pop off quite easily, but it's no big deal.

The blue roadster that comes with the set is very cool as well. It's a tight fit for minifigs, but a very cool car indeed.

All told, a very cool set. If you aren't a fan of stickers, well, it comes with quite a few stickers. There are no pre-labeled pieces, so if you look at the set, anything with lettering you have to apply. But again, no big deal. Just time consuming if you're a perfectionist.

Again, worth the money. Your town just isn't complete without it!

My son just turned 5 and loves Star Wars and recently became interested in Legos. Although the instructions are easy for him to follow because they are just pictures, sometimes it does call for adult interaction on the smaller pieces and stickers. This was a gift for my daughter's fourth birthday.
